A simple Google search for “online scheduling” or any variation of those terms, along with the terms scheduler, software, programs etc. will show you a plethora of random press releases, scheduling companies, blog posts, etc. offering advice and ideas of how managers should be scheduling employees. So why should you, as a manager even consider moving your scheduling methods to the internet? Because it gets results. Fast.

The concept of online scheduling is resulting in less time spent working out availability sheets in excel or on paper. It lowers the stress levels of managers during the times of the week when scheduling employees would have been the priority. With the new found open time and lowered stress levels, managers find it much easier to communicate with their employees and the same goes for employees communicating with managers. A less stressed manager is easier to talk to, more focused on the important tasks and happier when dealing with customers, guests or whatever term the industry uses to classify its purchasers.

Employees also get some nice benefits from using online scheduling. As mentioned above, communication lines that were unavailable prior to the online scheduling revolution have been opened in both the employee-employee relationship and the manager-employee relationship. Instead of taking the focus off of work to handle shift requests, managers and employees are now able to communicate availability, shift changes, responsibility changes, updates, etc. through an online scheduler. The new avenue of communication eliminates the annoying phone calls and text blasts that previously owned the last-minute call-outs and availability changes.

A Unique Approach to the Revolution

The features that SubItUp has focused on have focused on two main goals, 1 increasing time and money savings and 2 increasing efficiency. Along the way scheduling consultants have brought to the surface several pioneering ideas that could point the idea of online scheduling in a different direction. Concentrating on streamline the communication process between managers and employees, a messaging tool was developed that will allow managers to get information to employees’ emails, cell phones or both with one click.

Where the real thought has gone in, the unprecedented kind, has been in fostering the employee-employee relationships. SubItUp’s approach is to open this communication line, introducing a new form of scheduling that hasn’t been introduced elsewhere: social scheduling for shift-based businesses.  Adding a form of social interaction inside the program will create an experience for employees not attainable in any one other location. That’s all well-and-good for employees, but what about the managers?

Mangers can participate in the conversations as well, but more importantly SubItUp comes with the tools necessary to reach the goals of saving money/time and increasing efficiency in the scheduling process. Labor cost reporting and projections, individual shift management, an automatic scheduler, along with a number of other moderation features create a simple but extremely effective environment for managers. Inside this environment, managers have complete control while allowing their employees to stay motivated and connected to everyone in their departments.
