Now You Can Become a Shift Planning Ninja

SubItUp is at it again - introducing new features and updates to its employee scheduling software designed to give users greater control, precision and accuracy...in short, making them shift planning ninjas!

On June 20, 2016, SubItUp released FOUR new updates in response to user input and requests:

• Break Scheduling
• Enhanced Staff Importing
• Enhanced Auto Generate Schedules
• View Only Access

Let's dive into these updates!

1.  Break Scheduling

Employee breaks are a reality.  Hassles with tracking them don't have to be.  Now, scheduling managers have greater control and flexibility in:

• Adding paid and unpaid breaks to schedules, and deducting unpaid breaks from shift time via an automatic connection with payroll

• Visualizing breaks on the employee's schedule via the new COFFEE CUP icon, and adjusting those breaks by dragging the icon across the shift timeline

• Automatically generating breaks for an entire date range - or - manually adding breaks with the PENCIL icon

• Creating re-usable templates for various shift break scenarios

• Letting the system inform employees of break times by posting automatically to their schedules.

2.  Enhanced Staff Importing

Entering employees into your system can be a mundane task, and takes time away from managing your bigger issues. Why recreate the wheel when there are perfectly good employee lists from HR or other employee on-boarding departments that could be used?

That's just what you can do - plus, take the next step to welcome staff into the team with Staff Import:

• Now, import CSV or TXT file lists directly into SubItUp

• Customize the imported data to fit your scheduling format by simply selecting data columns to include or exclude

• Manually add staff to your imported file and insert new columns or rows if needed

• Streamline employee preparation and integration into the team by assigning passwords and sending a welcome email - engendering a positive employee experience and attitude from the get-go!

3.  Enhanced Auto Generate Schedules

Don't you just like the way SubItUp creates shifts, automatically figuring out and assigning employees based on their staff priority number and the number of hours they can work per week?

Well, things just got better with the new Auto Generate tool!  Now, the Auto Generate tool prioritizes the most difficult shifts to fill in conjunction with prioritizing staff availability.

The enhancements to Auto Generate:

• Identify and prioritize the shifts that are the most challenging to fill, AND use staff priorities to create the coverage you need

• Give you the choice to modify one shift at a time, or let the system handle it all at once

• Help eliminate the rework involved in reviewing schedule outcomes and then reassigning employees to ensure proper coverage on those shifts - resulting in better and more fair coverage

• Let the system determine how this enhanced prioritization impacts the assigment of employees throughout all of your shifts

• Let you review the shift assignments before your finalize, and fine tune the assignments even more in the editable review window

• Give you greater control, accuracy and efficiency in covering the challenging shifts - completely!

4.  View Only Access

By popular demand, SubItUp as made it easy for designated employees to view the schedules of co-workers in positions when the employee isn't a member of that position.

Employees currently can review co-workers in the same position from their schedule.  This additional "View Only" access allows employees to see co-workers in positions different from their own.  So, they have greater clarity before the shift on who to report to, or who to work with.

With View Only Access:

• Position managers can grant "View Only" access to employees to see who is assigned to positions other than their own during their shift

• Granting "View Only" access is easy for position managers - it's now added alongside the "active" and "archive" options in the staff tool

• The "View Only" positions show up on the employee's full schedule automatically, so it's easy for them to review.
