Employee Management - Reviewing Performance

We have discussed several topics as they pertain to employee employee-humormanagement and optimization.  None of them, in my opinion, is more important than the employee review.   The periodic employee review is pivotal in the success of a company and for employee longevity / development.  Many articles have been written on this topic with varying suggestions for how to perform a successful review.  As I was reading through several of them, I saw legitimacy in many of the ideas they were providing.

As I reflected over this topic from my experiences as an employee and manager, there was one important point that stood out for me.  It is really simple: Make sure you actually have the review.

This seems pretty basic but I had several employers in my past that said that there would be reviews and the employees would always be looking forward to them.  The problem was that they rarely happened.  And if they did, they were 4 months late.

What message does this send to your employees?  In the end, your employees are your most valuable asset.  You need to nurture them for the good or the bad.  Make it a priority and do not let it slip away.  An employee review is the perfect opportunity for the company to help the employee grow and vice versa.

I have listed a couple of the articles that I read below:

Conducting Employee Reviews - from Entrepreneur

Time For Employee Reviews? - from Inc
