Many of our customers are colleges and universities. Therefore, they have to manage student employees as their main source of their labor force. Over the past 7 years, we have made updates to our software that speak directly to the intricate situations that student employees create. Below is a list of common situations that we have heard directly from the managers that have to schedule the students on a daily basis. If you have more to add, please comment below.
Maximum Hours - Students can have a varying amount of hours that they are allowed to work. The reasons behind it could be work study allotments or even the Affordable Care Act. Managers need a way of scheduling students quickly and efficiently without worrying about going over the maximum number of hours allowed for each individual employee.
Add / Drop Period - This is always a fun time for managers. After all of the hours invested in creating a schedule for the upcoming semester, a student decides to add or drop a class that completely changes their availability. Back to the drawing board, right? Not with SubItUp. We offer a feature that puts the responsibility with the student.
Finding Coverage - The never ending sub requests. However, you handle these type of requests, it is never an easy process and there is always the issue of whether the employee will actually show up for their scheduled shift after a modification has occurred. We have you covered here, too. The Social Scheduling tool makes finding coverage a breeze for both student and manager.
Variable Availability - This is the mother of all difficulties while trying to schedule your student employees. This is not a situation where you have an amount of staff that are availabile from 8am - 5pm. The student employee has, arguably, the most variable availability. SubItUp can create customized shifts based around the employees availability.
